Consumer - 1994 - Confidence Report
|
TERM: JANUARY 1 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 1993
|
INTRODUCTION
The following is our fifth report on the quality of water served to our customers - a requirement under the California Domestic Water Quality and Monitoring Regulations (Title 22, California Code of Regulations). Those of you who received our first four reports will note some change.
TREATED WATER
IN-HOUSE TESTING: Turbidity level in Nephelometric Turbidity Units ranges from 0.01 to 0.10. Maximum level allowed by the state is 0.50. Our pH range is 7.75 to 9.00 at the treatment plant and distribution system however, no standard has been established by the California Department of Health Services.
OUTSIDE LAB TESTING: Alpha Analytical Laboratories in Ukiah tests treated water samples for coliform bacteria every week.
Chlorine dosage in treated water averages 0.4 to 0.8 parts per million at the water treatment plant. Chlorine level in the distribution system averages 0.2 to 0.8 parts per million.
UNTREATED WATER
Values for other chemicals where monitoring is required, but no standards exist, have been listed below to help you make important health and economic decisions, i.e., low sodium diet, water softening, etc.
Hardness (mg/1) 45
Sodium (mg/1) 7.5
Calcium (mg/1) 12.0
Potassium (mg/1) .84
Magmesium (mg/1) 4.0
Water taken from our lakes before it is treated, or raw water samples, are taken and transferred to Alpha Analytical Laboratories for analyses. Raw water test results were as follows:

TREATED WATER
In the last quarter of 1994, we conducted our first test for lead and copper from twenty (20) approved house taps. The results were well within the E.P.A.'s maximum settings. In May, we conduct our second set of tests.
SECONDARY STANDARDS - Aesthetic standards established by the State of California, Department of Health Services

LEVEL FOR TREATED

Iron mg/1 0.00 0.3
Manganese mg/1 0.00 0.05
Aluminum mg/1 0 (Alpha Lab)
(Note: Treated for manganese at treatment plant and reduced to 0.00 mg/1.) Some testing of treated water is conducted in-house or through Alpha Analytical Lab in Ukiah.
mg/1 = milligrams per liter (parts per million)
ug/L = parts per billion For additional water quality data, contact Richard White at (707) 459-3130.
