Utilizing the combined expertise, resources and distribution channels of its members, the Fire Safe Council fulfills its mission to preserve California's natural and manmade resources by mobilizing all Californians to make their homes, neighborhoods and communities fire safe. Since its formation in April 1993, the Council has united its diverse membership to speak with one voice about fire safety. The Council has distributed fire prevention education materials to industry leaders and their constituents, evaluated legislation pertaining to fire safety and empowered grassroots organizations to spearhead fire safety programs.

- Earthquake Preparedness Information
This USGS report also says that the next one will most likely strike farther north than Loma Prieta, somewhere between San Jose and Santa Rosa on either side of the Bay. The epicenter of the October 1989 quake was in a sparsely populated area. The next one, according to the study, will likely be centered in a more populated area. During the Loma Prieta earthquake, shaking was so severe in the Santa Cruz Mountains that a van overturned, treetops snapped off, and many people were thrown to the ground. Because the next one is expected to strike closer to an urban area, it will cause much more damage. Fortunately, there is something we can do about it. By taking actions, such as those described in this booklet, we can drastically reduce the losses and we can make the Bay Area a safer place to live.

WillitsLine is making this possible so that people can look up information or take part in it. WillitsLine doesn't have a staff, thank you for your understanding and support. WillitsLine is vary small compared to such com sites such as yahoo.com or msd.com and that it doesn't have the powerful server base software they use. But WillitsLine is taking shape. Slowly but surely its making its way.

The District's primary function in 1918, with 60 people living in Palmdale, was to deliver irrigation water for agricultural use. Over the years, agricultural water use declined. By the 1950's, the local aerospace industry emerged, and the District began the shift from supplying agricultural water to supplying domestic water. In 1973, our name was changed to Palmdale Water District to reflect the change in water use.

The primary water source is the Bull Run Watershed located 26 miles east of downtown Portland, Oregon in the Mt. Hood National Forest. Portland also uses groundwater as a supplemental water supply.
